Legal Aid Strike: Day 2 million or so - Has someone hit upon a decent idea.

The MOJ is poised to make an announcement on the outcome of the new tender process for police station duty slots. It would be great if firms did withdraw their bids and ruin the MOJ's press office day. It would stuff the MOJ and keep the pressure on. Still sadly I don't think they will. Going on past performance bidders and firms will stuff each other instead and continue the death spiral. I live in hope as I watch from afar.

The Law Gazette today notes "As the Ministry of Justice prepares to announce the outcome of its tender process for new legal aid contracts, some firms are prepared to withdraw their bids, a practitioner group claimed today.

The ministry is pressing ahead with plans to reduce the number of contracts for solicitors providing 24-hour cover at police stations from 1,600 to 527. The tender process closed on 5 May. The new contracts are scheduled to begin on 11 January next year."
